Page 30 - Social Enterprise A New Business Paradigm for Thailand
P. 30
1) Evaluate existing research outputs, innovations, inventions, and both registered
and unregistered intellectual property held by the National Research Council of
Thailand (NRCT) to identify which can be further developed into social enterprises.
This evaluation will consider both technological feasibility and market potential,
across various sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and natural
resources/environment, to compile a list of technologies suitable for
dissemination.
2) Study social innovations, such as public policies, state mechanisms, and tools that
can contribute to the development of social enterprises and the social enterprise
ecosystem.
3) Organize focus group discussions with social enterprises across different sectors to
share experiences and match interested SEs with researchers and innovators
responsible for producing socially relevant research and innovation.
4) Screen and award grants to selected recipients to carry their work forward into the
next phase.
5) This phase should not exceed one year and is expected to require a budget of
approximately 30 million baht.
4.2 Phase 2: Research and Development
1) Use the evaluation data from Phase 1 to select priority issues, and organize focus
group discussions with social enterprises, researchers, and end-user groups to
drive application and adoption of relevant innovations.
2) Develop and promote co-research teams composed of researchers, engineers,
designers, and social enterprises (SEs) to collaboratively develop solutions.
3) Develop solutions or prototypes and conduct real-world testing through living labs
or sandbox environments.
4) This phase will begin in Year 2 and continue for four years, with an estimated
budget of 40 million baht per year.
4.3 Phase 3: Scaling and System Support
1) Transfer technologies to other social enterprises through workshops and digital
platforms.
2) Create an open innovation platform, a shared database that social enterprises can
access for knowledge, tools, and collaboration.
3) Establish joint research funding mechanisms (match funding) between public
agencies and/or public–private partnerships to support continued development
and commercialization.
4) Organize award platforms and media campaigns to highlight outstanding
innovations and expand their visibility across multiple channels.
