management within organizational operations, for instance, recycling waste materials,
conserving natural resources, or utilizing local resources to produce goods and services.
An analysis of the relationship between revenue and total assets among the 256 social
enterprises in 2023 revealed a strong correlation, with a Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.95.
Based on this, when the enterprises were categorized by size using either total revenue or total
assets, the resulting distributions were identical. Only 10 percent of the enterprises had total
revenue and assets exceeding 10 million baht. The remaining 90 percent were divided as follows:
approximately 34 percent had revenue between 2 and 10 million baht; just over 31 percent had
revenue and assets below 1 million baht; and around 21 percent had revenue between 1 and 2
million baht. When classified by region, approximately 34 percent of the social enterprises were
registered and based in Bangkok, followed by 24 percent in the Central region. In other words,
more than half of all enterprises in the study were located in the Central part of the country.
The Northeastern and Northern regions accounted for around 14 percent and 11 percent,
respectively, while the Eastern and Western regions made up approximately 6 percent and 2
percent, respectively.
The final set of background data reveals that 96 percent of the social enterprises studied
reported revenue in 2023. Together, these enterprises generated a total of 5.927 billion baht in
revenue and a combined net profit of 230.85 million baht, accounting for both profit-making
and loss-making entities. Among them, 138 enterprises, or 56 percent of those with reported
revenue, recorded net profits totaling 348.46 million baht. In contrast, 107 enterprises reported
net losses, amounting to a combined total of 117.61 million baht.
