8.2.1 Population
The study focuses on social enterprises in Thailand, including companies and registered
partnerships that are legal entities established under Thai law. These organizations must engage
in the production or distribution of goods and services with a primary social mission. To qualify
for the study, enterprises must have registered under the Social Enterprise Promotion Act B.E.
2562 (2019) with the Office of Social Enterprise Promotion (OSEP) by 2023. A total of 321
organizations met this criterion (as of September 30, 2024). In addition, these enterprises must
have submitted financial reports to the Department of Business Development (DBD) between
2019 and 2023.
8.2.2 Data Collection
The study utilizes secondary data obtained from the Department of Business Development. This
includes financial statements and profit and loss reports of social enterprises, which are publicly
available on the DBD website (dbd.go.th: https://datawarehouse.dbd.go.th/index), as well as
corporate registration data spanning from 2019 to 2023. The analysis covers both general
organizational data and financial performance indicators.
