5.3 Social Enterprises in Developed Countries
While developed countries still have a significant number of people living in poverty, the nature
and severity of that poverty differ from what is found in developing nations. As a result, social
enterprises in these contexts have evolved to reflect their unique societal conditions. Although
the enterprises highlighted in this section operate in developed countries, many of their business

5.3.1 BON et Bien (France)
BON et Bien is a social business initiated by McCain, a major multinational food manufacturer.
The company pursued a strategy of linking its core business with a social mission focused on
sustainable development and responsible agricultural production (Chenevoy, 2015). The concept

reinvested into developing new products made from surplus farm goods, and the company has
expanded operations into Belgium, Greece, and Morocco (Yunus & Weber, 2017).

Mobilize was established in 2021 as a subsidiary brand of Renault Group and forms part of the
company’s strategic plan known as “Renaulution.” The initiative was spearheaded by Luca de Meo,
